Kilauea volcano, Big Island, Hawaii

Kilauea volcano; Hawaii I relish the adventure and challenge of shots like this one.; In such close proximity; the heat of the lava was intense. At one point; my tripod became too hot to pick up; I; worried that the lens of my camera would crack with the heat. Most of the time the lava was slow moving; but in this particular scene; the lava moved unexpectedly quickly; and I had to get out of the way.I worked most of the night. At one time I lay down on the lava rock with a towel under my head. I gazed at the full moon and dozed off for twenty minutes or so.
