Two hours before this photograph was taken, large hail stones rained down on me for over half an hour, leaving me to cross flooded mountain rivers and streams, as low as 35°F (2°C) in temperature. The whole landscape was awash. I had been looking for snow gums for some time, making a number of trips into the mountains. Fortunately, I stumbled across these whilst trying to photograph some lakes on the opposite mountain range. A short time after discovery, because of the hail, fog swept up the valley and over the ridge where the snow gums were, making the conditions perfect.
