#82: Spirit of the Fear of the Lord
Two opening Scriptures:
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. (Luke 4:1 NIV)
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. (Luke 24:49)
In Christ Jesus you have been gifted ears that hear and eyes that see, so come see with your eyes and hear with your ears. To walk as Christ Jesus retain the same simple agenda as He: the preference and delight to seek the Presence of God. For it is here – in His manifest Presence – where you are in Him seeing what He sees, and He is in you doing what He does. It is also here in Him that you live surrounded by the Counsel, Wisdom, and Might of the Spirit – just as the Son (Is. 11:1-3, Rev. 2:5, 5:6). And it is here in His gracious Presence, that you are swiftly led through the Wilderness right into the Promises of God.
There is nothing more sweeter and more special than having ministering angels at work in your life (Heb. 1:14, Acts 27:23, John 1:51), face-to-Face encounters with Jesus (Rev. 1:12-13, Acts 9:4, Acts 10:9-16, 2 Cor. 12:3-4, Ex. 33:11), and the abiding and ever-present Witness and heart-chatter of the Lord speaking continuously in your soul and thought-life. These whispers of the Lord that are laced with the burning Joy and Peace of the Spirit (Luke 24:32, Gal. 5:22-23, John 5:19). So as you truly come honour and hunger for the Lord your God, even more than your daily bread (Matt. 6:11, Matt. 4:4, Deut, 8:3, Luke 12:23), then so too do you open the Pantries of Heaven (Rev. 2:7, 17, John 6:32).
Just as in the Exodus account, the Work of the Cross is just the beginning of your Salvation. Jesus desiring to lead you into the so much More. Their salvation from bondage, and to what God had planned to lead them into, so surpassing their own vision and comprehension. And so as you choose to truly give your life unto the Lord, so also shall you be led through all the wildernesses that are presented in this life, here to function in the Promises of God. For as it is written: ‘what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived – the things God has prepared for those who love Him’ (1 Cor. 2:9). Therefore, being a people led by the Spirit, so shall you live in experience of Him in measure beyond imagination or human comprehension … such is the power of your love (Heb. 10:19-22).
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one — I in them and you in me — so that they may be brought to complete unity. (John 17:21-23 NIV)
Oh the mystery in truly giving your life to the Lord; the setting of your love and faith fully and completely unto Him. For to such find themselves up in Him where He is and He here where you are now. You are one in Him – you are exchanged – you in Him and He in you. You in Him experiencing and seeing what He sees and He is in you doing what He does – in the Bliss and Wonder of Him. What a wonderful Salvation we have in the Lord. For as you truly set your affections up High, even behind the Curtain, so too are you lifted up in Him (Col. 3:1-3, Heb. 10:19-22). And here He comes and replaces the brokenness, the hurts, and your frailties; and steps on through into your world.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings. (Hebrews 10:19-22 NIV)
The Lord Dreams for you to soar on wings like an eagle, and not grovel on the ground of struggle and defeat. And it is the Way of the Spirit for you to abide in realms that are so far beyond the reach of Satan, even striking him from high and lofty places (1 John 3:8, John 3:8, 2 Cor. 5:17, Ps. 91:12, Mark 16:18, Deut. 34:7, Matt. 16:19). So be no longer embroiled with anything less than the wondrous and glorious Presence of God. For Satan only seeks to drag you down into his arena and domain, endlessly battling him in your flesh and own human understanding. But as you truly begin to engage yourself in the Lord, setting your affections High up in Him, so too shall you be continually lifted up. Choosing to look past all the forests of opposition that comes; unto the very Tree of Life. For otherwise, it is the cunning of Satan that only desires to strip you bare of your grand beak, pluck you of your glorious feathers of flight, and your powerful talons cut off – keeping you naked, Fatherless, and afraid.
But in contrast to this: become a people who remain in the Love of God (John 15:9, Ps. 46:10). For it is here in His Presence that you are continuously raised from within the ‘nest’ of His Supply (Is. 58:6-11), under the covering of His Feathers (Ps. 91:4). Strengthened and protected in the Lord, whereby you mount up on wings. Such is the treasure of the Presence of God (Ps. 91:11, John 15:9). Therefore, as one who believes in the Name of Jesus, be ‘diligent to enter the Rest of the Lord’ (Heb. 4:14), for the work of the believer always remains the same: ‘to believe in the one He sent’ (John 6:29, Prov. 3:5-6). Here preferring to sit at Jesus’ feet where your mind is continually renewed in Him unto right thinking (Luke 10:4Luke 10:41-42, Eph. 4:23, Rom. 12:2). And to such live continuously surrounded by His Counsels; with the whispers and heart-chatter of the Spirit pouring Life into your soul, your mind, and your flesh. And it is here where the root of doubt and unbelief is totally destroyed (Matt. 17:17, Jam. 1:6).
Faith is Seeded of the Spirit as you dine in Him. The honoured Witness of the Holy Ghost speaking fresh and alive in you as you go about regular life. And even if it is just the size of a mustard seed, it still shifts immovable mountains and casts them into the sea (Is. 41:15, Matt. 17:20). So let the Gospel no longer be just words on a page, but alive and experienced in you; through the Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. For it is the Spirit of the Lord that inspires and builds up, and it is He that teaches and guides. The Spirit leading, strengthening, and coaching you – He does this (Rev. 3:19-22). And this not in the limited and confined vision and capacity of man, but through the Eternal capacity and revelation of your ever-present Saviour (Rev. 22:1, 2 Kings 6:17).
What are we talking about here but the ability and capacity to live highly interactive and engaging lives in God. Miraculous and victorious in Him just as the Son. Destroying the works of Satan (1 John 3:8) and taking land for the Kingdom of God (Jos. 1:3). Sowing Life and dismantling Death. Such is the Power of the Secret Place, for in Him you learn how to be led by Him.
Every opposition or distraction that comes is either of the Lord to test your love and build it stronger and more united in Him (Deut. 13:3, Ex. 20:20, Ex. 16:4), or is of the Enemy to hinder you going forward. But in all the same they are ‘wilderness’ experiences. But the answer always remains the same: delight yourself in the Lord and in praise seek His Face all the same (Ps. 37:4, 119:16).
If you truly wish to be led by God then you can’t serve to masters, especially if you really start walking in His Glory. For Satan will use it against you, and in his cunning tear you down. If your grace doctrine is misbalanced in that it covers you of your wrongdoing, then you will live unruly lives and be tempted to take loose and non-secure steps. Grace is not a license to do whatever you want, that is rebellion. No, Grace is the empowerment to win, and to win every time! You cannot serve two masters, your dream needs be the Lord, and in Him does He fulfil all your dreams. And this beyond measure and comprehension. Such is the Grace of God.
The Snake is the most cunning of all creatures (Gen. 3:1) and he sets lures of entrapment to kill, steal, and destroy. One can live loosely, even though holding a deep faith in God. But what you want is God stepping in place of you. So in retaining an unbalanced grace message that tolerates looseness, with the expectation that God just follows somewhere behind cleaning up after your mess. Then realise that this is not the lifestyle of a follower of Jesus, but a lifestyle that seeds brokenness. In your love, it is God’s Grace that covers a multitude of sins (1 Pet. 4:8). But it is the cunning of Satan that seeks to find something in you, and here to take you down at an opportune times (Luke 4:13).
So it is true: there are many Christians, but there are so very few followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. (1 Corinthians 4:20 NIV)
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power. (1 Corinthians 2:4 NIV)
What is gifted the believer is the capacity to have angels walking amongst us, the Spirit of the Lord going out before us, and greater and ever increasing interaction with the Kingdom of Heaven (Acts 8:26, 10:3-4, 27:23). Such is part of the ‘unknown’ Wonder found walking with Him (1 Cor. 2:9). For it is the Kingdom of God that we are born into, not the kingdom of men but the Kingdom of God. Therefore, concern yourself only in seeking the Presence of God (Ps. 53:2), for all distractions are purposed to draw you back to your flesh and own capacity. Recognise that it is the way of Fallen man to do life independent of God, but it is the Way of the Spirit to do life fully engaged with your Heavenly Father – in ever increasing Glory (2 Cor. 3:18).
God looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. (Psalm 53:2 NIV)
The ‘moral of the story’ of the Word of God is this: nothing is within our own capacity, nothing at all, but all things are in the capacity of the Holy Ghost (John 6:63). Therefore, choose to treat all opposition to the Kingdom of God as of the Devil. All sickness, all disease, all hurt and pain; all grief and turmoil, and all depression and oppression as the work of Satan (John 10:10). So don’t just accept things and be brought down by them, but rise up in the Spirit of the Lord. Bow not to these things, nor the ridicule and unbelief of others (Matt. 13:21), but in the choice of your own soul whistle a tune right in the face of Satan and praise the Name of Jesus. For you have the total unfair advantage over him – such is a worker of miracles.
A bull has great power and potential, but when castrated is renamed a ‘steer’. A bull has nations in him, the other only becomes a beast of heavy burdens.
Religion is exhausting and spiritually dethroning, it in itself creating a Fatherless generation. A people disorientated of their liberty and identity in Christ Jesus; orphaned, malnourished and malformed. The demon stepping in place of the Son, even as an ‘angel of light’ (2 Cor. 11:14, 2 Tim. 1:-13-14, Rev. 3:11). Therefore honour man, even esteeming them greater than yourself (Phil. 2:3), but seek only the Lord. You are not called to follow man but the Lord (John 21:21-22, 1 Cor. 3:4-5). For the Church itself is built upon the Rock: the very Person of Jesus and the living and abiding Witness of our Heavenly Father (Matt. 16:18).
This people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them. (Matthew 13:15 NIV)
As expressed throughout Scripture: go into the secret place and so shall you abide under the Shadow of the Almighty (Ps. 91:1). This is not of Works and Law, to which the many live under, but is purely of the Grace and Love of God. For it is in the secret place that you are taken into the Secret Places, the Secret and Hidden things of God (Jer. 33:3). And it is here – in Him – that the Voice of the Lord becomes most clear and sharp; strengthening and continuously lifting you up, and taking you places where man cannot go. Even in the cleft of the Father’s own Hand deeper into His Glory (Ex. 33:22). Sitting together face to Face with Him – as friends and close companions (Ex. 33:11) – such is the power of the Blood. Is there a dream or purpose that compares to this?
If there was something else stolen in the Beginning it was man’s dominion over the world. This dominion taken by Satan; and the effects of his control is death, disease, and sorrow. But now, through the work of the Son, dominion is brought back into the hands of the children of Light (1 Thes. 5:4-6, Matt. 16:19). Such is the Ecclesia … the governance of the Church of which you are now a part. So as you earnestly choose to seek the Presence of God, so too are you tutored and raised to function in Heavenly Places (Eph. 2:6, Col. 3:1-3). Abiding in the Glory of God and walking in the capacity of the Son (just as the likes of Smith Wigglesworth, Randy Clark, TL Osborn, David Hogan, and the many others). This not independent of the Father, but in deep union and oneness in Him. Whole in the Father – you in Him and He in you … One! Be therefore deeply encouraged to move forward, for all Creation waits eagerly for the sons of God to be revealed (Rom. 8:19).
You have been gifted the Spirit, so in the Spirit seek the Lord. It is Jesus, the Door, of whom you are purposed to step through. And it is in Him that the Spirit takes you by His Hand deeper and deeper into the Father. And it is here, in His Presence, that the Father makes you able to function in His Glory as sons and daughters of the Living God.
In the beginning, when Satan was given dominion; his princes, generals, and demon hordes went out and staked claim throughout all the ends of the earth. This is part reason why one must come under the Spirit and the Spirit’s leading, for what is the mere human understanding in the face of these eternal creatures that have held territory for thousands of years? But as you lay claim, and place the flag of the Kingdom of God upon the ground, in the Name of Jesus, does the Glory of God come to bear against all the strongholds of the Enemy.
The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. (John 10:17-18 NIV)
Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. (John 14:21 NIV)
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. (Hebrews 10:38 NKIV)
Do you realise that there are two layers of God’s Love? There is His enduring Love that He has for the whole world, and then there is His Love in which He confides and reveals of Himself. There is the Love that seeks to draw all mankind to Himself – His Endearing Love. And then for those who honestly respond and diligently turn their love to Him, bond-tying themselves in Him (John 15:4), God Himself liberally reveals the Secret Thoughts of His Heart and pours out from His Goodness. There are many Secret and Hidden things that only God can reveal and impart, and this via His gifted Holy Spirit. And so, as you truly love Him and His Word, so too does He liberally reveal, disclose, and show Himself all the more (John 14:21). Salvation not being the end or the arrival place, but the beginning of great Wonder and Glory in Him.
There is the unconditional Love of which Grace extends from, His Endearing Love that continually desires and yearns to draw you ever closer to Himself. And then there is the ‘conditional’ Love that responds to your love and the humbling of your own heart. The coming to worship God in both Spirit and Truth, just as the Father seeks and actively looks out for (John 4:24). This being the very fruit of the Gardener’s efforts (John 15:1). There is the written Word and then there is the continual flow of the Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. This very same Word that Jesus calls you to deeply hunger for (Matt. 4:4).
He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. (Deuteronomy 8:3 NIV)
So we need to learn to seek the Word that comes from the Father’s mouth. And so as you truly take to heart these ‘earthly teachings’ given of your Saviour, then so too are the coals set (Luke 12:49). These same hot coals forming the basis where you can truly be revealed, shown, and taken into the Heavenly things (John 14:23-24, John 3:12). Such is the Fire of God!
There is your love for God and then there is the Love OF God that comes and alights upon you in His Bliss (Ps. 84:11, Rom. 8:15). And so to truly befriend the Lord your God and seek to draw yourself ever nearer to Him, it is He who picks you up and draws you ever closer to Himself (Jam. 4:8). Taking you close in His Heart and His Heart’s Purposes. Even to be in Him seeing what He sees and hearing what He says … this even to the measure of the Son. Truly, then, you are a child of God, for as it is said, ‘those who are led by [and live according to] the Spirit of God are the children of God’ (Rom. 8:14).
A person confides in a friend, even a dear and close trusted friend; therefore befriend the Lord. Become one known in Heaven as His friend, as a friend of God. This is your choice and is held within the right and capacity of your Salvation. Be not drawn off by every care or every distraction, but retain a heart that is deeply rooted and fully set upon the Lord. Serve not two masters but One, carrying not two desires but one: one dream, one hope and one fear; to ‘hear His voice and see His form’ (John 5:19-44). There is a right way going about things if you truly wish to be a people who impact your world. Becoming believers that actually believe, believers that continuously receive, and believers that function in the fulness of your Salvation. In such there is no corruption (John 14:30).
Jesus did not do ‘according to what He heard with His ears or saw with His eyes, but through righteousness He made judgement for the needy’, ie; He laid attentive to what He saw and heard in the Father (Is. 11:3-4, John 5:19). And so, as you also diligently set it within yourself to walk the way of Love, then so shall you abide and function surrounded by His ever-present Counsels – as one continually nourished of Heaven.
Mankind is trained to seek the honour and approval of man, but who truly seeks the Honour and Approval that comes from the only God? Man is trained to hear and see man, but who honestly and truly desires to hear and see the Lord? Even resting in this and gaining an understanding of heart whereby you truly turn to Him and are ‘healed’ (Matt. 13:15).
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28)
Do you realise here that as you are led by Jesus, hearing His Voice and seeking His Face, that you enter into Immortality? You begin to enter into the realms and function of Eternal Life, and this whilst you still live here on earth. Now when Jesus speaks of ‘drinking poison’ and not being harmed, being ‘bitten by a snake’ and it not having effect over you (Mark 16:18, Acts 28:3-5, Dan. 3:16-28), now you can understand how this is possible. In the Book of Timothy, God speaks of Life and Immortality … these are two things and not just one (2 Tim. 1:10). To such is the fruit of the Spirit-led; sickness, viruses and disease having no grip upon you. Such is faith: as you seek the Presence of God, in the face of all things, Faith and Might is gifted of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23, 1 Cor. 12:7-11, 1 Sam. 14:6).
When you think of Paul, the Spirit told him of the trouble he would face in the coming years, and he even had people prophesying the same (Acts 21:11-13). But the Bliss of God was so strong upon his life that he just wanted to see it through. I tell you that the Bliss and Wonder of the Lord is so much greater, the abiding in His Love so much more beautiful, than trials and tribulations. To such function in the realms of the Power and Immortality of the Kingdom of God. Peter preferred to be hung upside-down, and Stephen preferred to pray a blessing over those who stoned him – such is the Bliss of the Presence of the Lord.
Honour man, but seek not the honour of man. Esteem others even greater than yourself, but seek not man’s praise; seek not recognition in the eyes of man. For here the Accuser – the Lustful one – speaks louder and gains more influence over you than the gifted Spirit of which you were born. Therefore, firmly seek only the Honour and Approval that comes from God (John 5:44). Respect the counsel of your brothers in the Lord, and so too give counsel, but set the dream of your soul to abide and function right within the Counsels of God.
You have ‘father’ figures within the church body, and you yourself are like a father as you disciple one another in Christ Jesus. But keep it deep within yourself, and hold it most sacred and dear: that Christ Jesus alone is your ever-present Teacher and Instructor, the Spirit your ever-present Helper and Guide, and God alone your ever-present Heavenly Father. There being just one Father, one Counsellor, and one Rabbi (Matt. 23:8-10). And in this be not deprived, lest an orphan spirit come upon the body of believers, a religious spirit stripping them bare of identity and hope in the Person of God.
Believers forgetting, or not ever really knowing who they are, or how to truly receive from the Lord. A divide being formed of which leave the congregation not knowing how to truly hear or see Him, nor even realising that this is even possible or allowed. Let alone how to step into and abide within His ministering, rejuvenating, and strengthening Presence. Man becoming caged within the vision and control of man, and like Chinese-whispers the many losing their way. The blind leading the blind and both together falling into a ditch (Matt. 15:14).
As believers, it is common to be filled with doubt and unbelief. Getting lost in one’s own vision and capacity; just like the people in the Exodus story (Deut. 8:2). But as you truly choose to delight yourself in the Lord, it is He who fills you with His Vision; even becoming one who sees through His eyes. In reading about the Seven Spirits that surround the Throne, do you notice how they are paired (Is. 11:1-3)? For example, to truly walk in the Spirit of Might one cannot do so independent of the Spirit of Counsel – for they work together. And just the same with the Spirit of Understanding, right next to Him is the Spirit of Wisdom. For it is together that they work; Wisdom making alive and functioning the Understanding given. And when you walk in the Spirit of Knowledge, and speak into a person’s life of the hidden and secret things of their heart, so too does the Fear of the Lord come upon them changing their lives forever. And as you come personally under the Fear of the Lord, a sharpness remains set in you unto the Face of God, and here no longer living influenced or held captive by the many other voices of influence.
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. (1 John 2:27 NIV)
The failing of the Exodus story came about because the people did not choose to ‘remain’ in the Counsels of God. But always chose to bow to the opinion, the scorning, and the ways of man. Even retaining a half-heartedness with their thoughts set back to Egypt, just as the many do today. (But there was one man, by the name of Caleb, who God said was of a ‘different spirit’ (Num. 14:24, Matt. 13:18-23)). The Promises of God was purposed for the whole Israelite family, and it was right there – just as it is for us – but because of their stubborn and unbelieving hearts they never entered or dwelt in this place. And so, for you and I, it is through the sought after Presence of God that the given Spirit becomes magnified upon you, and changes you swiftly from the inside out. Giving you capacity to live in, and function from, the realms of the Promise.
The greatest gift bestowed the believer is the ability to hear and see the Lord. Mankind is trained to hear and see man, but who is it that truly desires to hear and see God? The truth is that in the church there can be just as much hostility to the Dreams and Plans of the Father as was in the Exodus account – the muddying of the waters, the tares springing up choking the wheat (Matt. 13:25). The people whinging and complaining and despising the Word of God, crushing the faith of the many (Matt. 16:6, 23:13). And the Fire snuffed out through mixed-dreams; their hearts fixed back upon Egypt and not set firmly in the going forward in Him (Is. 50:7).
Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same [example] of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell]. (Hebrews 4:14 AMPC)
In reference to the opening Scriptures: the Spirit of God led the baptised Spirit-filled Jesus into the wilderness; where He ‘returned full of the Power of God’ (Luke 4:1,14). And so too were the Disciples led into the Upper Room; where the Fire of God fell (Acts 1:13, Matt. 3:11). And the same as is in the Exodus story, the Spirit of the Lord led them into a type of ‘Baptism of Fire’, where they took possession of the Land through the Power of the Spirit. Do you understand this? So too, then, remains for the children of God today; a leading of the Spirit in the Fire of God. So as Spirit-filled believers, set your heart unto the Spirit, walking in step with Him (Gal.5:25, 3:3); and so too shall the Fire and Power come upon you (Luke 3:16).
Only Moses was permitted to approach the Mountain of the Lord, and He sat face to Face with God. However, this right and capacity is now gifted you through the work of the Spirit. So as you truly humble yourself as a little child, and just simply love on God, so too are you picked up and taken continuously in Him. Blessed be the Name of Jesus! Be really encouraged, for just as in Jesus’ own life, all is of the Spirit. Our capacity not limited to ourselves but to the impossible made possible in God.
It is our job to love the Lord, and walk close to Him; and its God’s job to take us into the Promises. Such is the Exodus story made contemporary for you.
Do you realise that nothing of the Exodus account was possible or in the capacity of the people? Absolutely nothing! It was not possible for them to leave Egypt, it wasn’t possible for them to survive traveling through the Wilderness, and nor was it possible for them to enter into the Promised Land. In truth, nothing of their flesh-capacity was of any value at all. The only thing that was within their capacity, was their ability to physically walk and to harken to the leading of the Spirit. And that is what we are called to; to walk close with our Saviour and lay attentive to His Word.
For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13 AMP)
It was the Spirit that broke the impossible bonds of slavery and brought them out of Egypt. It was the Spirit that baptised them in the Red Sea, through the parting of the waters. And it was the Spirit that led them to meet God at Mt. Sinai. And it was the same Spirit that led them through the inhospitable wilderness, even feeding them Manna from Heaven, and it was the Spirit that led them to the Jordan to cross over and take possession of the Land. And it was the very same Spirit that caused them able to triumph over all the enemies that came against them. And in all these accounts there was absolutely nothing of their own fleshly capacity – nothing at all – and the exact same reality is true today! So be greatly encouraged.
The Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you.” (Exodus 19:9 NIV)
When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.” (Exodus 20:19 NIV)
In mirror here the Gospel speaks of those who love the Word, and seek to live in it, that they also open themselves to liberally hear the Word that comes from the mouth of God. There are many competing voices, but if you can truly make the choice to come sit at the feet of Jesus, then it will be He who continually speaks into your life. You have it within the capacity of your Salvation to walk through the Door and meet with the Father as much as you desire. “ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH MAY IT BE DONE FOR YOU” (Matt. 9:29). Man can by no means do this for you, for this is between you and the Lord. And as the church body truly honours the Presence of the Lord, so too does He walk among His people, touching and revealing Himself through the intercession of the Spirit-filled. The things of God are outside our capacity; our capacity being totally inconsequential. Oh, but the capacity of God and seeing Him move … what a sweet adventure!
The purpose of the Blood is your ability to enter into the Father, not just visiting the Temple but entering into Him. That is its purpose. Not just a ticket into Heaven for when you die, but the inherent ability to walk and function in Heaven here and today. Out of all the things presented to you in this life; all the influences, loves, fears, and choices; the fact that you long to hear and see the Lord, even to the measure of the Son, brings a tear of joy to the Father’s eyes.
Let then the Voice of the Lord flow clear and sharp, strengthening and continuously building you up. Even taking you places where man cannot go; in the cleft of the Hand of God deeper in Him. Retain therefore, this one hope: this one vision, one dream, one purpose, and one drive of soul; to see and hear your Heavenly Father. Living in a constant state of hearing and seeing the Lord your God, even to the same measure of the Messiah, our Lord and Saviour who came and showed us how.
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does … 30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.
37-38 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, nor does his word dwell in you … 42 But I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts.
44 How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? (John 5:19-44 NIV)
Do you notice here that belief comes from seeking the Glory, seeking the Honour that comes from the only God? Be, then, encouraged to seek the Presence of God and be not dissuaded. And also, do you notice how Jesus uses the words, ‘hear and see?’ If it wasn’t possible to hear and see the Father then Jesus would not have made this reference. Jesus speaking to the Pharisees, ‘you have neither heard His voice nor seen His form’ – He would not criticise them of something that was not within their right or their capacity to have. So, for you and I, let’s come under a ‘different spirit’. For as it says in Jeremiah, ‘if only they had stood in my Counsel, they would save the nation’ (Jer. 23:22).
Such is faith: for as you seek the Presence of God, in the face of all things, Faith and Might is gifted of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23, 1 Cor. 12:7-11, 1 Sam. 14:6). In the Presence of God are His Counsels, yes, as also His Understanding. But what is most valuable is the Bliss of the Lord; the abiding Witness of the Spirit that takes you over and makes you able to stand. And even holding a Faith that terrifies the mountains and they must move!
Joshua didn’t take possession of the Land because he was a powerful military leader, but because he laid attentive to the Heart of the Father and was equipped in Him. The Joshua ‘spirit’ is to sit at the feet of Jesus, always lingering back in the Temple – in the Bliss of the Presence of God (Ex. 33:11). This is the same way that we are called to approach all things; through seeking the abiding Presence of God and here enjoy seeing His Hand at work. For if the Israelites had truly learned this, then their wilderness experience would have only been but a few weeks. For the lesson of the Wilderness has always been the same: bond-tie your heart unto the Heart of the Father and never leave (John 15:9). For in the Father is His Delight as well as His Counsel and His Power. And to the same so shall you take possession of the Land, triumphing over all that comes against.
So be encouraged and take the right steps – putting your love in the Father, and transition through the Wilderness. Retain a preference for He who is your goal, rather than the circumstances or current realities presented. Sometimes it is the Father Himself of whom is testing your love so that it may be true and strong. For in God’s opinion, He needs to be more important to you than both needs or Promises, but in Him you get it all: the Promises, the Blessings, and God Himself (1 Kings 3:11-13). And with deeper roots so too shall you behold and be able to carry a greater measure of the Glory of God.
Wilderness and dry experiences produce a fruit that is most sweet. And form roots that are deep and strong, never ceasing to produce good fruit in and out of season (Mark 11:12-14).
When you look at the lives of the Greats, many of them had wilderness experiences, and it seems that the greater the calling the greater the wilderness. Three names come to mind: Joseph, David, and Daniel. And in each one of these living testimonies show us something truly amazing; they all kept their hearts tender before their God. Joseph could have gotten really bitter, and David could have become militant and angry, and Daniel could have wallowed in depression. But in each one of these men’s lives they only ever drew their hearts to God and loved Him all the same. And God ministered, trained, and built them up until the day of their vindication. Joseph saved his own people and also a whole nation, David became the very lineage of the Christ. And Daniel turned the entire empire, the very same enemy that was used to destroy Israel, into a God-fearing nation.
They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob. (Psalm 24:5‐6 NIV)
In all that we face in this life, if we can truly respond to the abiding Witness of the Spirit, and turn to God rather then to the problems at hand, then He ministers and swiftly leads us through all things. Can you be one who whistles a tune right in the face of adversity? Can you praise the Name of Jesus and seek His Presence all the same? There are many wilderness experiences that come but the answer is always the same. And the Power of God being released by His own children. Such is the word ‘faith’; the child who knows and walks close with his God – as family. Not a foreigner, nor one far off or indifferent, but one who knows their Lord.
In seeking the Presence of God, as the root cause of your soul, He turns all wilderness experiences into great steps of growth. For you are not called to flounder about in defeat, but to rise up in Glory, from one measure of Glory to another (2 Cor. 3:18, Eph. 4:13). And God is right there with you, and this being His own Dream for you. And so when Satan rises up a flood against you, the Lord your God raises a standard (Is. 59:19), and you go from ‘strength to strength until each appears before God in Zion’ (Ps. 84:7).
Throughout Samuel’s lifetime, the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines. (1 Samuel 7:13 NIV)
Such is the power held in a single man, a single child of the Living God …
Pray this prayer with me. ‘Lord, I call upon the Spirit of the Lord to come upon us. I call upon the Angels of God to minister. Lord I fully recognise the limited nature of my own capacity, but I also equally recognise the wondrous Capacity of the Lord my God. Today I call upon Heaven to walk among us – here and today, and I openly declare my need and longing for you. Please come … in Jesus Name, amen.
