#76: Planting Heaven
“I and my Father are One”
In this chapter I wish to put something before you to ponder, something I first shared several chapters ago (#63). But here I would like to go into it in much more detail, with also additional layers of implication.
Firstly, before I start …
In reference to 1 Corinthians 13, the ‘Love Scripture’:
God is patient, God is kind. He highly honours you and is not self-seeking. God is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs. However, He does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He always desires to protect, He always hopes, He always perseveres. God’s Love never fails!
So let me begin: “God is a Trinity but He desires to be four.”
Ok, so before you pick up stones … take some time and think. In reference to fundamental principle of Scripture, is there anything in the Bible that supports this statement?
Here are some suggested scriptural principles to refer to:
- The Bride of Christ.
- The Body of Christ.
- A child of God.
- Born in the Image and Likeness of God.
- He in me and I in Him.
- Eat my Flesh and drink my Blood.
- Seated as a king on His Throne.
- God Himself is my Inheritance.
The Word of God, itself, is the ultimate Love Letter to mankind, even to you most personally. The invitation of an Eternal marriage, even a birth. And the Father, Himself, who has exposed His own very Heart most vulnerable to this creature called man. It is an Inheritance and an Eternal Destiny that has been presented you, through the work of the Cross. These things, though being a mystery to us, the scope and vision of which remain far beyond comprehension; but still, all the same, are most clearly presented in the Word of God.
- What is expressed in Scripture? God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- What else is expressed in Scripture? God’s Heart is fully and intently set upon man.
Realise this wonder: God as the Father, God as the Son, and God as the Holy Spirit; have all of their Hearts, all of their Thoughts, all of their Intentions, and all of their Purposes fully directed towards this creature called ‘man’. Man being the very central object of His affections, the object of His vision, and the focus of the preparedness of Heaven. Even mankind being created in the very Image and Likeness of God Himself; man a most peculiar creature, even a child of God.
Two opening Scriptures:
What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? (Psalm 8:4 NKJV)
How precious are your thoughts concerning me, O God! How vast in number they are! If I try to count them, there would be more of them than there are grains of sand. When I wake up, I am still with you. (Psalm 139:17-18 GWT)
The Heart of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is absolutely and fully set upon the Church: the Body of Christ, the Bride. However, in the same way, the very Person of God, the Person of Jesus, and the Person of the Holy Spirit is equally purposed, intent, and personally set upon you as a person, you as an individual. And so, as you personally come to respond to His Love, and approach Him most personally for yourself, your Heavenly Father is so right there for you, He being so most conscious of you (Luke 12:7). His Eyes, His Heart, His Thoughts, and His Attention so set upon you, as though you are the only person in the whole world. Such is the nature of the Love of God, such is His nature, and this experienced regardless of your broken state, and regardless of your imperfections.
The joy set before the Lord, as He approached the Cross, the very vision before His eyes, was that ‘whosoever believes’ (John 3:15-17) now has absolutely perfect and undeniable access to the Father, as though you are the very Son yourself. This fulfilling the Father’s own Dream concerning you. Jesus, as the Firstborn, laid way for the many children of God to follow, becoming one born anew as though not born of earth at all, but born of Heaven … just like the Son (John 17:16).
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew 5:3 NIV)
Why do you think that the ‘poor in spirit’ are so blessed in the eyes of God? Does anything come to mind? Is it not in their very brokenness, in their great internal struggles of heart and soul, that they have nowhere else to go? No one really to express to what is truly going on within them. So in finding Jesus, they go to Him – He who is the ultimate expression of Love – He who broke His body for the broken. And in your personal coming to Jesus; immensely strong bond-ties are formed as Jesus, Himself, leads you continuously deeper into the Heart of the Father. Truly, blessed then are the poor in spirit … go, then, to He who is Trustworthy and True,
It is so far beyond comprehension to think: but ‘unto us a Child is born’. That unto each one of us most personally ‘a Son is given’ (Is. 9:6). It is God, He of whom holds the universe in the palm of His Hand, of whom ‘esteems’ you so highly (Phil. 2:3); that has sent you most personally His very own Son. And for those who truly turn to Him, those who earnestly have set their heart in Him to seek Him; today our Saviour who gave His life for us, dresses Himself to serve and present you most personally the things of God. He who is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, it is our very Christ Jesus that God has ‘appointed’ you. Even to raise you as one Tutored and Instructed in the School of the Victorious – even the School of the Kings.
So let then the ‘times of refreshing come upon you in the Presence of the Lord’, and as you truly come to respond to God’s Love, you are simply availing yourself of all His Love. For God has not left you to your own devices, He has not left you as an ‘orphan’, but truly He ‘comes to you’ (John 14:18).
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you. (Acts 3:20-21)
Our Lord and Saviour, as He walked this earth, would say of Himself that He was the Son of God, but people would become so offended that they picked up stones against Him. Look, then, how far the church has come; today this statement is now most easy to receive and this without offence. However, in saying this, how would it be taken if I was to say of myself, that “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30)?
My Heavenly Father, the Endearing One …
The truth is, that there is such a shroud over the hearts and minds of the church (Is. 25:6-8). Believers living as though God is up there and they are down here. Even today Satan placing such a sense of unworthiness, that many don’t even feel worthy to truly approach Jesus themselves, let alone the Father. But feel that they can only go via another; even Mary, even a priest, and even a pastor. However, the ‘finished’ work of the Cross, has given you clear and perfect access as the very brother or sister of the Lord Jesus Himself; our Heavenly Father, our Abba Father – the Endearing One. I tell you that the uniting nature of the work of He who went before you, is purposed to take you with Him where He is – in every way – and His Name is Jesus.
He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother. (Matthew 12:49-50 NIV)
A heart turned to the Lord, as a family member, it is to such of whom the Father shows you His Love, even for His Love to permeate and burn from within your very being. And where, in the past, you may have run off in fear in certain situations, it is through a great sense of security and strength of He who is with you that overshadows all fear (1 John 4:18).
A worker doesn’t know the Master’s business (John 15:15), but to a child, even an heir, they come to know the Heart, the Ways, the Thoughts, and the Inner Motives of the Father. So too does he personally come to know the Love of God, and all that the Father has being mine just as I am fully His. A worker goes back to his own home, but a son to the dwelling place of the King. A worker goes to work with a bag of tools, but a son goes out with an entourage from the King.
He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. (Luke 10:27 NIV)
Most commonly thought in Christian circles is that man is a three part being. And though this in part may be true, here we have Jesus speaking of our four parts. So though our spirit may be before the Father in Heaven right now; where is our soul, where is our thought-life, and where is our flesh? I tell you that in Christ Jesus, the Spirit makes you most capable and able to have your all in Him, just as He desires to give you His all in you. A child abides and functions in Eternity, as does Eternity abide fully within him; this in your spirit, in your soul, in your mind, and in your flesh. The Ever-Present One, He who is the Alpha and the Omega, is with you. And to such the Fruits of Eternity, the Fruits of the Eternal Kingdom of Heaven, are functioning alive and active, even stepping right through you this very day. This not in the confines of time and space, but in the mysterious, marvellous, and wondrous ways of the Spirit.
God is Love, and His Love is of depths just as Eternity is deep. I can just sit on the surface if I wish, but that is neither the Intention nor the Purpose of my Father. I am invited by Him to go into His Love; deeper and deeper, deeper and deeper, in depths beyond depths. Not only into His Love but into Him; to know Him, to be in Him, to experience Him; He in me and I in Him.
I am of the dust but God is of Eternity, it is, however, to where God is that He desires to bring me; to lead me as a son. To grow like Him and to be with Him now, here and today. My Heavenly Father being, Himself, my very inheritance. All He is, is mine, as all I am is His. This is not even complete to say; for I am in Him and He in me … we are one. This not derived from my own imagination or dreams but is His Dream made flesh in me. Therefore, I make it my dream as well. Nothing compares, nothing invades, and nothing is given right to come between me and the Love of God. I honour Him, therefore He Honours me with His very Self. Such is the Way of the Son, such is the Way of the Kingdom of God, and as I abide in Him it is He who makes this most possible.
And just as Eternity is deep, so too is one’s capacity of growth in Him; as a child into the stature of his Father. And just as Eternity is fully outside time and space, so too is one’s capacity of growth in Him not limited to or confined by time and space. Eternity abides in you as you in Eternity, Everlasting Life is in you and so too your capacity to function and draw from here. This in the same way that it was for Jesus as He walked the earth. And in just the same way, if you were to overlay Eternity with the Love of God; your ability to delve into His Love, to grow in His Love, and to be developed in His Love; experiencing His Love, even becoming as He, in the bliss of all who He is – to such is the capacity of a child of God.
Your body is the Temple of the Lord; the Lord joining with you, abiding in you, and you becoming one united in Him – just as He is in you. This in your flesh, your mind, your soul, and your spirit. The Tabernacle of Old was made in three parts, as modelled after that of which is in Heaven. But later on, the Temple of Solomon was made of four parts, this according to the blueprints given by God: the Outer Court, the Inner Court, the Holy Place, and the Most Holy Place.
The evolution of the growth of the soul of man: in both consciousness and awareness, and even in the flesh and the reality of one’s very make up. First there was the Tabernacle, then the Temple, but here and now you are yourself the Temple of God. Where, then, is God leading you to, as a person, is it to an earthly vision or a Heavenly one? So, where is it then that your heart is set, is it to an earthly setting or a Heavenly and Eternal one?
Man has come from the dust and so too then is man’s own vision and understanding. But the Spirit is about raising your vision and so too your dwelling place; even your very flesh, your very mind, and your very soul. The truth is that the vast majority of Christians live out their Christian walks dethroned, disconnected and unempowered. Such is the way of the ‘yeast’ of religion. So in this picture of the Temple, Christians can live their lives toggling between the Outer Court and the Inner Court; they themselves living so lukewarm. So to such live as though they are a tourist or a foreigner to God, even though professing to be a believer. But the Lord desires for the believer to rise up in the Lord and in that of which God has for them.
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:9 NLIV)
So to continue, there is a Door set before you, this Door provided giving you full access to go into the Father. Not only so, but even to go in behind the Curtain and live in continual experience of the fullness of God – a more perfect interaction. That is why this Ancient Word of God remains true and relevant for you today, the Door being fully opened you. For as you come to Love the Lord with all your flesh, all your mind, all your soul, and with all your spirit – so too is God able to give you His all; all His Spirit, all His Soul, all His Mind, and all of His Flesh. You becoming one in Him and He one in you. The Door wasn’t opened so that you remain only outside, so ‘repent’, that is turn about-face and go step on in through.
Instead of having your back turn to the Holy Presence of God and set upon the world, turn about-face and set your vision unto the Lord and unto where He desires to lead you. Set your heart upon the Will of God and allow His Will to be nurtured and fulfilled in you – by Him.
God as the Trinity but He desires to be Four.
#1. The Bride of Christ.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife has made herself ready. (Revelation 19:7 NKJV)
But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate. (Mark 10:6-9 NKJV)
There are many Scriptures that refer to the Groom coming for His Bride. With marriage itself being a perfect picture of union; whereby two become ‘one flesh’. And in the same Word of God He stipulates, “what God has joined together, let no one separate”.
Though this may not be the way of man, it is the way of God. So in relation to this very subject, from God’s point of view, the union that you have in Christ Jesus is complete and perfect – no separation. And so as you give yourself fully over to the Lord, you are united one in the Godhead; one in God and He in you – ‘one in flesh’.
#2. The Body of Christ.
There is one Body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:4-6 NASB)
As a member of the Body of Christ you are in Him and He is in you. Therefore, where are you but in Him. In God’s eyes there is no separation, and so when He looks at you He sees the Son. And just as in the same way one abides in the Vine; you in Him and He in you – in your uniqueness there being no separation. The same Spirit of Life abiding in you, flowing through your veins just as the Son. The same leaves coming forth, and the same Fruit budding, blossoming, and coming forth. Bearing you in the very Likeness and very Image of the Son; no distinction!
Without Holiness no one will see the Father, so the flip side is: with holiness seeing the Lord will be commonplace for you. Therefore, as your heart remains set upon the Lord, even your affections; your soul and your thought-life, so too will the Lord be free to flow through you bearing His Life in you. This being a natural thing and not conjured up in your own efforts, but by the Spirit of God.
#3. A child of God.
(Born of the same Blood, the same Spirit, the same Mind, and the same Flesh).
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Galatians 3:26-27 NIV)
As referenced here, to believe that you are a child of God, makes you a child of God, such is the power of faith. When you think of a child, what comes to mind? Certainly that he is born in the likeness and image of his parents. What, then, does this speak of, but family, and this itself also denotes a unit. And with or without training, even from a young age, the child bears the likeness of the parents. Even then growing up in stature and in capacity. So as one born of God who is it then that you bear the likeness of? Your Heavenly Father of course. But just the same, even in your uniqueness you continue to grow as Him, in Him, and with Him.
When parents give birth to a child, they do not bear forth a cat, or a mouse, or a bird that flies away. No, they bear a child from their very bodies, from their very person. This, then, is no different to that of our Heavenly Origins. Jesus brought the following Scripture to absolute relevance for each one of us, for as He said, this Scripture cannot be ‘broken or undone’; “you are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High” (John 10:34-35). Please do not pick up stones, but truly come and pick up the Word of God: you are a baby-god, a baby-Jesus, a baby-child of the Living God; that is His Dream!
As the Scriptures say, “what we will be no one comprehends” (1 John 3:2), and in another place “no eye has seen, and no ear has heard all that God has prepared for those that love the Lord” (1 Cor. 2:9). Man has their opinion of human evolution, but God has His very own unique Purpose and unique Opinion as well. Man is of the dust and his vision is like that of a worm, but God desires to lift you ever upward in Him. So before, when leaders and experts of the Law picked up stones to stone Jesus, for saying that He was the Son of God; where is it that God truly desires to lead His people?
As Jesus says, “whilst you have the light, believe in the light, that you (truly) may become sons of light” (John 12:36). Be, then, no longer small in your thinking; remain no longer under the shroud that covers the vision of the world. But place ‘salve’ on your eyes that you may now see (Rev. 3:18-22).
#4. Born in the Image and Likeness of God.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness … So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27)
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29 NIV)
When Adam and Eve fell, God said to Him-selves, “man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever” (Gen. 3:22). What is it now that has been presented to you here and today but the very same Tree of Life. And this in order for you to “eat of and therefore live forever”, even “not being hurt at all by the second death” (Rev. 2:11). For though it remains a mystery, but “some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom” (Matt. 16:28).
If you do not eat, how will you live? If you only eat what is presented to you in this life, without gaining a hunger to eat from the Tree of Life, even your Daily Bread; how then can Eternity abide in you here whilst you still live here on earth? Therefore, set your heart, even the affections and the thoughts of your inner motives upon Heaven; so, then, to here you shall be lifted up. Even in the very Image and the very Likeness of God, and now it can truly be said, “I and my Father are one”.
#5. He in me and I in Him.
You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. (John 15:3-4 NKJV)
Through the witnesses of the Word, the Blood, and the Spirit; you are part of the Vine. And it is through His Word spoken you, that you are ‘already made clean’, whereby you can approach the Father and abide in Him, just as you are. Therefore, come abide in Him! This is within your own heart’s choice and found within the very motive of your own soul. For man ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, so ‘choice’ remains in yours – choice is always presented you. So in your freedom then, choose; choose to abide in the Lord. For you have the choice to orientate yourself unto the Lord, or remain orientated elsewhere. You have a choice to come under the influence of Everlasting Life or remain under the influence of the powers of this Age.
In setting yourself unto the Lord, and looking through all the trees of obstruction unto the open fields of the Lord, where the Tree of Life stands; so too shall you get to eat liberally of this same Tree. Be no longer one who gets lost or entangled in the forest, but set your eyes firmly upon the Son. To such live according to the Spirit of God and no longer according to the flesh (Rom. 8:1-8 NKJV). And therefore, one able to grow and form the Fruits of the Vine, even to the very Image and Likeness of the Son. And here and now, this regardless of maturity; in all appearance – God seeing fully the Son. Though retaining your uniqueness in Him, the transition between where Christ ends and you start is no longer there, it is totally seamless. And why, but because you and the Son are one; ‘I in Him and He in me.’
A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. (John 14:20)
Jesus expresses this picture even more clearly. He brings this close to your attention: just as He is in the Father and the Father in Him, “you are in me, and I am in you”. Let your Lord your Saviour lift up your vision in Him. Let your eyes be no longer dim, let your thoughts not be caged; but purge the ‘yeast’ of religion, the ways of man, and the spirit of Mammon. Allowing the Lord to make this alive in you today. For as it says in Scripture, a shroud is over the whole world to this very reality.
#6. Eat my Flesh and drink my Blood.
Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. (John 6:53 NIV)
How is it then, that as one eats the Flesh of Jesus and drinks His Blood, that there can be any separation between you and the Son? For as you purpose yourself to eat His Flesh and drink His Blood, He becomes part of your very flesh, part of your very mind, and part of your very soul. Intricately and integrally part of all who you are. And as Jesus is in the Father, you are in Him and He is in you, and you are in the Father and the Father is in you … you are one.
#7. Seated as a king on His Throne.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. (Revelation 3:20-21 NKIV)
It is the heart of the Father that you open the door of your life, in order for the Son to come in, whereby you may personally walk with Him. Personally sitting and dining and sharing one-to-another in closed sessions with Him – your Communion in the Lord. And it is here that the Lord raises you strong, setting you upon the Rock, even being victorious as an overcomer. Not a product of man, nor of the institutions of man, but a product of the Living God. It is here that Heaven becomes more open to you, whereby you go in and eat liberally, according to the full appetite of your own heart’s desire. And here the Lord grooms and trains you in the School of the Kings, and prepares you able to sit on His Throne with Him at the very right hand of God.
This in not word alone but in most very real reality. This not only in Heavenly Places, but within the Inner Place of the Lord; the High Place that is set above the High Places. There are many who come before the Throne of the King, the Throne of Authority and Grace, and then there are those who, themselves, come sit on the Throne as kings under the Great King. The Lord invites you here, but it is a place only for the willing; those who will themselves, avail themselves, prepare and posture themselves to receive.
#8. God is my Inheritance.
Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. (Psalms 16:5 NLT)
Then He said to me, “It is done, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. (Revelation 21:6-7 NASB)
The theme and principle of Scripture is the giving of your all to God; that He, Himself, as a Person becoming your very dream. People can have many dreams and many loves and purposes, and God being just one of the many. But to some it is God alone who has become their dream, even their ‘first love’ (Rev. 2:4), and it is He that they receive. For it is to what you praise that you yourself become, so let then your praise be the Lord Himself.
For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship]. (Romans 8:19 AMPC)
Come posture yourself in the Lord whereby He reveals and discloses your ‘sonship’ in Him, even through the manifestation of His own works.
Pray this prayer with me. ‘Bless you Lord, praise be to your Holy Name. Thank you Lord for your Grace towards me that throughout my life you have being wooing me. Drawing me through your own gentleness and kindness forever reaching out to me. Lord I desire to set my heart upon you with all I am, please continue to lead me closer to you, that I may truly know you. You in me and I in you. This I pray in Jesus Name, amen.’
