Day #37: Lasting Fruit
The World needs Jesus alive and active in you and I, so, let us all learn how to never leave His Presence, ie; never ceasing in our heart’s communion and dialogue in Him. As your heart honestly desires to draw close to the Spirit of God, He begins to feed your soul. In the morning when you choose to seek Him in the Secret Place you will find that the Spirit places prayers upon your lips, He teaches you how to pray, even when to command or when to be silent. The Spirit raises deep endearing praise from down deep in your soul unto the Lord as you are overwhelmed by His Presence once again. Prayer has its own language and this is given uniquely and personally to you by the Holy Ghost.
He will wake you at night and say, “meet with me”. He will call you by day and say, “fast for three days and prepare yourself for a meeting with the Lord.” He will draw you unto Scripture, He will draw you to other people’s preaching or writings. He will cause you to have a word in your heart and thoughts that don’t ever leave until you find a nut is cracked and you are able to walk into a realm of new understanding and revelation of the Lord. The Lord gives you according to your own heart’s desire, and He gives you what you yourself seek; so I deeply encourage you to quieten yourself down and daily seek the Presence of the Lord.
Knowledge is given to us by the Gospel message, but it is the Spirit that the Message points to that leads you in the Knowledge of God.
A meeting with the Person of Jesus is a powerful encounter, and an appointment with God is what every Christian needs in order to function correctly: a meeting, an encounter, a gathering unto the Lord. But where are you, where are your thoughts, where is your heart’s desire directed to? For your thoughts, your hopes, your cares are set in other things, and your source is tied to something else entirely, rather than that of your True Source. Fears become greater than the strength of God in your eyes, and your heart is drawn away (Is. 51:12-13).
These things become as blockages and hindrances to your prayers, irrespective of the formulas of which you might pray or the faith proclaimed; a distance has developed that still remains. It is not as though God has ever left you, but your heart has left Him; ceasing to ‘remain’ in the abiding Love of God. A disconnection in your heart’s dialogue and interchange with the Spirit of God – is a break in ‘prayer’. Realise that a break in communication in the Father is also a break in your trust, in your faith, and in your hope; for your heart is set on other things and so too then is your strength. Though you are called a ‘believer’ the Fruits of the Kingdom remain elusive, distant, and barely seen. Let us then draw back this moment in Him, turning our soul unto the Lord with a repentant heart. “Lord, I turn my heart unto you afresh this moment, please forgive me for always being drawn off. Lord, I need your Presence anew this day, please guide me by my hand by the Glory of your Presence.”
The Name of Jesus: the Lord moves sovereignly at times, irrespective of your level of faith, or what season of life you are in; the power is in the Name of Jesus and the precious Blood shed for you. But what is the encouragement here? The Gospel speaks of knowing where you are seated so that when you pray you receive healing for the sick and the bound. For just as Jesus said, “I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf … my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name” (John 16). This is what we want, this is what we need, this is what the world of which we live in needs; the Power of God coming through His Anointed ones, ie; you and I the ‘believer’.
The Power of the Name of Jesus is given you as you trust in Him.
Trust is your link: trust is the link that connects you with Jesus and the Power of that Name. Without trust, who then are you actually praying to? For in reality you are just speaking to yourself. For God does not respond to prayers alone, but He responds to words spoken in faith, ie; trusting and resting in His abiding arms.
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. (Col. 3:1-2)
With your mind set on things Above, your heart drawn unto the Spirit of God, it is faith that rises in your soul. The ‘Nature of Jesus’ coming generously upon you of which builds your trust in Him. It is through this same trust that Jesus builds and constructs His Home in you and His Name becomes powerful in your life. What then, is the Nature of Jesus that would be so valuable to have in your own life? Here are some: Peace, Rest, Joy, Hope and Love; confidence, visions, eyes that see, ears that hear, and a closeness with the Father. All of these come in the Presence of the Lord.
Can you think of an environment that is developed in your communion in the Lord? Is there something tangible, real, and alive in you as you live your life in this ‘unceasing’ dialogue, this continual ‘prayerful’ relationship with the Lord? Are there even trace residual effects that remain upon you as you live in continual encounters in Him?
You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. (John 15:16 NLT)
Produce then, therefore, “Lasting Fruits” … then the Father will give you whatever you ask for. Ask yourself this question, if you were brought into Heaven and spent time speaking face to Face with the Lord, what can you imagine would be some of the ‘residual effects’ retained upon your life when you returned? Surely your faith would be lifted, your trust would be raised, your eyes opened, and your faithfulness increased. You would find that your righteousness has formed deeper roots, your love and countenance deeply shifted, your joy exploding, and your peace like a river through a deepened identity in the Lord. You would find that your obedience is switched on, your humility palatable, your hope firmly established, your soul shifted, and your heart firmly set upon the Lord.
OK, so now you know some of the “Lasting Fruit” that is available to each and every believer. Realise that this is the very ‘environment’ that you experience as the Presence of the Lord comes upon you; as you begin to open the door of the secret place of your heart. This is the ‘trace residue’, even of the ‘Nature of Jesus’ within you; Jesus making His Place of Abode in you. I deeply encourage you to truly come to love the Lord God with all you are, nothing retained, that He might truly guide you, taking care of even your very next step. Fully giving yourself to Him that He might fully give Himself to you; His Life coming upon you according to the fullness of the Gospel message. And then what you find is that the Lord more openly responds to “whatever you ask in prayer” because of the “Lasting Fruit” that is evident in your life.
Today, for you and I, the ‘Fruits of the Spirit’ is this very environment, the ‘residue’ of Heaven, the Character and Nature of Jesus abiding in you. These very Fruits naturally rising up in you, in abundance, as the Spirit of God comes upon your Life every day, and new in every way. Let us then treasure going aside in the Lord all the more, just as Jesus always did; worshipping the Father in both spirit and truth – for these are of whom the Father is actively seeking and to whom He regularly visits. Let us seek and treasure the manifest Presence of God; for it is the manifest Presence of God upon your life that naturally keep the Fruits of the Spirit flowing, keeping you “in step with the Spirit.” It is this same environment that builds such rich bonds of trust, faith, and hope in Him. Also then being the Place that the Power and Anointing of God rises up naturally in your life, just like a springs of living water.
Let these Fruits become central to your core pursuits in Him, through the Love of God; your root and your basis being established in the Nature and Character of God. For in this good soil, “your roots grow down deep into God’s love and keep you strong.” It is the Peace of God that should be ruling your life, ie; the Prince of Peace, and not something or someone else. It is in this ‘Abiding Place’, this ‘Place of Repose’ that the Counsel, Knowledge, and Might of God flow liberally, even abundantly like a River. This then, is the structure of the Kingdom of God and the nature of those born of Him.
One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple (Ps. 27).
Reflect on the life of king David: the only thing that drove him was to “dwell in the house of the LORD.” Though he had his troubles, but in the very midst of them, in a desert place, he delighted to seek the Lord. He therefore found a deep Rest in the Lord, a deep Peace, and Confidence in Him. This was gifted him by the Lord of whom he honestly treasured and sought, of whose Dwelling Place he always longed for and the Lord responded and ministered continually into his soul. Later on in David’s life everything was restored, and all enemies both inside the nation and outside where absolutely defeated by the Sovereign Hand of God.
It was the Lord who rose up and set David in such honour and even for the countless generations that followed; for David only sought the Presence of God. This ‘honour’ stretches all the way to you and I, born of Christ Jesus, the Son of David. We are all of the same Root (Is. 11:1-4). So let us be all the more encouraged as we personally gain a heart’s desire to “dwell in the house of the Lord”. Deeply seeking, as David, the Face of God and tight bonds in the Holy Ghost. To clarify: there is great power in the Peace and Rest that comes from trusting in God, for it unlocks the Trinity to work on your behalf, and unlocks the Power of the Name of Jesus.
Pray this prayer with me. ‘Lord, I repent of striving under my own flesh and the knowledge of my own mind; I long for the Nature of Jesus abiding in me, the Fruits of the Spirit rising up within. I recognise that these are of the Spirit and not my flesh, so I hereby seek you in the depths of my heart. I deeply desire to draw close to you, please draw close to me that your Life may flow all the more. May you continue to make your Home in me. Please teach me how to seek the Spirit, to seek your Presence, that you may have all of me and I might have all of you. In Jesus Name. Amen’.
