Day #25: The Answer is Jesus
“Laying Down Cares”
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil. 2:10-11
‘True’ worshippers worship the Father in spirit and in truth (John 4:23), ie; 1. in meditation and taking possession of the Word of God, 2. as well as waiting upon Him and allowing personal encounters of your Lord and Saviour. As you come in earnest to wait upon Jesus, when He comes you cannot physically remain standing. In the Presence of Jesus you are brought to your knees in every part of you and in every way. Within your soul, within your mind, and your flesh. A praise comes upon you that is not of yourself, and a deep sense of the Presence of Jesus totally overwhelms you. This is most dearly precious and also I have found that it is a most important part of the Christian walk; your regular encounters with the Person of Christ Jesus, the Author of Life. Jesus has availed Himself to you regardless if you have been a Christian for only just a day or for many years: His willingness to meet with you is astounding … but there is a right approach.
Salvation isn’t a single invitation of the Lord, asking Him into your life once, years ago, but a heart unto the Lord of open invitation. For as Jesus said, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:16), He will come and show you of His Glory (John 17:24). In this Abiding Place you can live in experience and receive from the Lord throughout all your days. No situation or issue, no anxiety or cares of this life, is able to remain standing in the Presence of Jesus. No name above, on, or below the earth, in Jesus Name.
I do not wish to live for a moment without the manifest Presence of Jesus upon my life, nor can I function without it. I will not lay idle or indifferent especially that I know that there is only more of Him, and that He only desires to draw me ever closer in Him. All sin, weakness, failure, and doubt is washed away in the regular encounters of the Person of Jesus. As Jesus comes upon you a faith and a boldness is implanted within you, that is not of oneself (John 16:14 AMPC). Therefore I choose to humbly wait upon the Lord, patiently and in earnest, “making the way straight for Him” (Is. 40:3). For who am I but nothing without Him. I am no more than the dust of the earth, like the brief morning mist. But in Jesus I am a something, in Him the Father’s eye is intent upon me, and He lifts me up in Himself. What a precious gift, what a wonderful God we serve.
In the quieting of oneself waiting upon the Lord and experiencing regular encounters of the Person of Jesus; even the very trace residue of doubt and cares fade away. A boldness that is of the Spirit comes upon you that is by no means of the flesh. For God’s Voice rises up within you and the voice of the Thief diminishes. Your flesh is useless to you, every part of it, place not your faith there nor in the respect of man. If you desire to walk full in the Power and the Anointing of the Holy Ghost and Fire, realise your flesh capacity and it’s cares are only a stumbling block to you. An obstruction and disorientation. Daily lay your flesh down in the Lord, dying to it as you have been instructed. Even your knowledge and understanding (Prov. 3:5-8), die that you may produce many seeds just as He who went before you (John 12:24). Jesus says that unless you come to Him as a little child you cannot enter the Kingdom of God (Matt. 18:3), you cannot participate freely in the Kingdom: His Gifts, His Power, or the abundant Joy and Peace of the Holy Spirit. You remain restricted in your experience of the Knowledge, the Intimacy, the Love, and awareness of the Presence of God upon your life. Deeply aware of His manifest Presence right in the midst of the storms and the craziness of life on this earth.
As Jesus walked the earth you as well can live in the calm, in the peace, in the quiet confidence of soul, right in the midst of the hecticness and hurricanes of life. Jesus operated from a pure love of God, a singular set structure: the Love of God. Nothing swayed Him. He neither strived or fretted about anything, for everything was the Father’s. His love fully in God, with nothing left over. In complete Rest of soul and intimacy in the Father, God manifested through Him, ie; worked through Him, spoke through Him, and guided Him (John 14:10-12). This is the same picture and plan for each one of us, those born of the Seed. Let the Love of God be the anchor, the foundation, and vision of your soul. We are called by default to enter and abide in the Rest of the Lord, not to sit observing the Rest (the Kingdom) from a distance, but fully entering in. This is not possible of our flesh but is freely gifted of the Holy Spirit. We are called to abide in the Rest as like as in the eye of a storm. Whilst people see dark skies, strong destructive winds, and harsh conditions, you see blue sky. Others around you see calamity, the world crashing down, hopelessness and despair – you, however, see an open Heaven to draw from. To draw liberally from, even to bring the Hand of God to bear.
Leader of the Rebellion
Cares have their root in the ‘Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil’. Where you only naturally wish to be in control, independent of God, with your own knowledge of what is right and wrong, possible and impossible. But at the same time struggle with the fact that not everything is in your control. You, in the end, are not ‘God’. Jesus was crucified to free you from the effects of this ‘original sin’, so that you truly may fully partake of the Tree of Life and ‘live forever’ (Gen. 3). These ‘cares’ can have their origins from either inside the ministry of the church, or out there from the world. This is a most central aspect of the Gospel: to lay your life down, to die, to take up your cross daily. Fully releasing and entrusting yourself in the Son, as a little child. This is about removing the effects of ‘being like God’, needing to know and be in control of everything, ‘with your own understanding’, and fully releasing yourself unto Christ. Satan’s ‘voice’ or suggestion to this very day is always ‘did God really say that?’ Endeavouring to seed doubt of the Living Word of God in your heart, and diminish His splendour into distant obscurity.
The world’s natural root heritage is not of the Tree of Life, nor ear inclined to the Voice of God. But instead as one as a god unto oneself and independent of our Heavenly Father. This is the deceptive nature and character of Satan and his ‘angels’ since the Beginning. This, therefore, is the nature and origin of doubt; still living under the effects of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. We however are grafted into the Branch that is of the Tree of Life, let us all the more secure ourselves there; ‘remaining’ and ‘abiding’ in Him. The Voice we hunger for and decidedly choose to otherwise hear and recognise is that of Jesus (John 10:27), and in Him, we gladly sit at His feet. It is the Spirit and the Voice of God that Counsels us and raises us in Faith. The Waters from the Lamb (Rev. 22:1) welling up within you as you live fully submitted and subject to the Holy Ghost. He allows you to fully participate in Him, to draw from Him, for He by nature “works to show Himself active on behalf of those who earnestly wait for Him”, “rending even the Heavens for you” (Is. 64:1-4).
To continue: the scar in the heart of the Father is the fact that the leader of the Rebellion rose up with ‘a third’ of the angels and led war against the Creator. Against He who is Love, He who is Life. Satan’s deception was so complete, he thought himself capable to dethrone God (Is. 14:12-15). And this same deception came upon all these angels to think that they too can be ‘like God’, independent of Him.
However, God’s Grace, His Love, and compassion for you is so complete. But the fact remains that doubt has its origins in this spirit of Rebellion. And even though people believe that Jesus is the Christ, and was crucified on the Cross, there is not the Power of God active like in the book of Acts. The reason why is simple ‘doubt’ and ‘unbelief’. Doubt and unbelief to God is a believer’s ear still accustomed and inclided to the voice of the leader of the Rebellion, over that of the Living Word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
To His own disciples Jesus often said, “oh you of little faith”, or in this case, “faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I bear with you?” He said this to those of whom He loved and deeply cared for, and broke bread together. But He also was frustrated because He knew where it came from. He knew where the root of doubt and unbelief comes from; it is rooted in the rebellion against God. Let us simply repent and pray in earnest “please forgive me, please help me in my unbelief.” Let us fully enter into the Life that Christ died to bring. Cry out, “may your Kingdom come and your perfect Will be done in my life, just as it is in Heaven.” This is the right prayer for all believers, whether young or old.
This is the root purpose of the Cross: to set you free from all the effects of sin, the influence of the Thief, and to triumph over him. For the heel of the Seed of woman stands on the head of the serpent (Gen. 3:15). You, in ‘remaining’ in the Vine, are born of the same Seed and can stand on the Serpent’s head, crushing him in all areas of this life and bring the Kingdom of God firmly established in your world.
The naked Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ spoken preludes the move of the Spirit …
Pray this prayer with me. ‘Lord, I realise that though I love the Word and Truth of God, I have only pursued you in this way. I never realised that I can pursue you so very real in person, even seeking you to visit me afresh and anew each day. That I don’t have to rely just on my understanding, my knowledge and doctrine, but I can continually live in the Dwelling Place of He who is the Word of God. Lord, please bring me anew into your Courts, each day, into your Presence all the moments of my days. In Jesus Name. Amen’.
