Day #15: To be with Him
“A Heart of Invitation”

Scripture:
In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the Evil One. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” (Matt. 6:9-13 NKJV)

A question; do you think that the Lord’s Prayer is still relevant today? For the Kingdom of God has come, it’s now here on earth, this prayer is no longer relevant right? Yes, of course, it is absolutely relevant. What I would like to raise here is the value and importance of developing a heart of invitation, a heart longing for the Lord as expressed here in the “Lord’s Prayer”. This is a most powerful and precious spiritual principle for the equipping of the person of God (Eph 6:10-18).

You are the Gateway for the Kingdom of God in your world. Interceding to draw and invite more of your Lord Jesus, more of the Spirit of God manifest upon your life and in your world, is the way of the Kingdom. Not only seeking one day to go to Heaven, no, but that Heaven may truly come upon you and your world. Inviting and honestly yearning for a greater and increased measure of the Person and Anointing of God is a most precious pursuit (John 3:34, Matt. 13:12, Eph. 4:13). This is a great blessing to you and those within your sphere of influence. The Person of Jesus manifest and the Presence of the Spirit of God gifted you abundantly bears the Might and Knowledge of God within you (Is. 11:2). Realise that “all creation is waiting eagerly for God to reveal who His children really are” (Rom. 8:19) … this is you!

The “Lord’s Prayer” is an ‘invitational’ prayer: prayerfully longing and welcoming an increased involvement, a greater experience and interaction of the Father. A heart of welcoming a greater measure of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the purposes of God realised in your world (John 7:37-39, Rev. 21:6, Acts 2:17). What does the Kingdom of God mean to you? Is it not the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in Lordship, in authority and in rule with His angels in Heaven? So when Jesus says “the Kingdom of God is within you”; is it not the Godhead, the Trinity, dwelling within you in His Authority, His Glory, and His Might (Luke 17:20-21)? It is the same Glory of God within you as Jesus knew and walked in, it is the same Glory that raised Him from the dead. Your prayer can become the same as Paul’s: “All I want is to know Jesus and know the power of His resurrection” (Phil. 3:7-11).

The ‘Lord’s Prayer’:
1. The Lord’s Prayer is your personal ‘daily prayer’ of invitation for the Kingdom come, ie: “more Lord, more of you, please come and increase in my life. Lord, less of me and more of you” (John 3:30).
2. The very next line of this Prayer is a similar form of invitation; “Lord, may your Will be done in my life, in my world, as it is in Heaven. Lord, you do not have sickness in Heaven, no poverty, no depression; please bring these realities in my life and my world. I welcome you, please come, let your Perfect Will be done.”
3. The Prayer continues, “Lord, please give me my ‘Daily Bread’, the Word of God that comes daily from your mouth into my soul. I hunger for the Word that ‘proceeds’ from your mouth more than my daily bread.”

The most common thought today, is that the “Daily Bread” mentioned here, is my daily food or my daily provision. But let’s address this: the Gospel message has been in preparation in Heaven since before the foundation of the world, and its purpose is to bring the Life of God unto man, to join man in God. Do you honestly think that food for the stomach is central to the prayer of the Father? No, food for the stomach is simply a blessing of the Gospel, but the central ‘food’ for the human condition is the Word that flows from the mouth of God.

In whatever trauma of life you are going through the Presence of Jesus can come so mightily upon your life. What is important however is how you cultivate, nurture, and retain your tenderness and personal relationship with the Lord in both the good and the bad times (Jam. 1:2-4). Even in moments when all seems lost, all is against you, and seriously impossible circumstances arise – the Lord can come and place a new song in your heart (Ps. 40:3) if He is the one you truly seek. The Spirit of God can rise up mightily with a new prayer deep in your soul (Rom. 8:26-27) and you come to see and enjoy His Hand at work once again … now this is fun!

Scripture:
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matt. 6:33 NKJV)

How you yearn for the Person of God in your private place is how you come to see Him and know Him in your public life. How you meet with Him in the secret place is how you see Him when the impossible issues of life come. Impossible situations that will arise in your own life, in someone dear to you, or someone whom you know of. So a question to ask yourself is, where are you truly rooted? Right here and now where is your soul established? With your spare time do you ever make time to meet with the Lord your God? Giving place for the Father to raise you up like He did king David, while he was still just a ‘ruddy’ boy. In this you will then face the ‘Goliaths’ of your life ready with the Spirit of Might of whom you abide in, and not cowering behind a bush asking, ‘where is God?’

Ask Jesus out for a ‘Date’
Your walk in the Lord is a relationship, this is known, but what are you doing to nurture this relationship? Have you ever asked Jesus ‘out for a date’? Have you ever asked the Father or the Holy Spirit to come and spend some time together with you? To hang out together, share with each other, and eat together (Rev. 3:20)? Have you ever made a purposed space, a place of time, to just wait on the Lord to visit you in Person (even regularly)? Does the Father honestly feel welcomed or respected by you at all? Does your life reflect a heart of invitation or are you just happy with your doctrine, knowledge, and your opinion of God?

Think of the relationship of a boy and a girl, or that of a husband and a wife, can you imagine a relationship that was only based on letters written and the occasional phone call? Do you not realise that this is how most believers live out their Christian lives? Reading the Bible (letters) with the occasional prayer (phone call); did Christ die so brutally on the Cross so that you can have such a distant relationship with Him? Be encouraged to shift your thinking and connect deeper in the Love of God. There are times when we are busy, sure, but then there are times when you can set yourself aside and truly meet with the Lord.

You can’t think of your relationship with the Almighty God as you do your TV. Sitting there flicking through channels in demand for something stimulating … right now! You can’t treat your walk with the Father as you do the McDonalds Drive Thru, whilst at the same angry cause it didn’t come out in 30 seconds. This relationship walk in the Father is much deeper, much broader, and deserving of much more honour and respect. It is built on a most serious intent. He is not interested in instant food or instant gratification, nor will He jump through hoops for a spoiled brat. No, this is a serious walk with seriously special outcomes. He desires to lift you up into the Heavens, to be with Him, and dress you in fine Heavenly apparel; Gifted and Anointed of the Holy Ghost. Known even by those standing with Him in the Courts of God (Zech. 3). So come to deeply respect the Lord, He is not just knowledge, come pause your life and sit and wait upon Him.

Realise the magnitude of which God desires to pour out the Holy Spirit in and through your life (Joel 2:28). It is far beyond your comprehension or ability to imagine (1 Cor. 2:10-12). If you came to realise, even just in part, you would fall on the ground overwhelmed with the deepest of tears. Change how you approach your relationship with the Lord, from a distant relationship, to one close, intimate, and deeply bonded. Like ‘newly-weds’ – always renewed and refreshed, every day!

I don’t care anymore but for the Presence of the Living God to save, to heal, to build up, and to restore. All I care for is the Lord, and for Him to come in His fullness; His Love, His Grace, and His Might. I long for Him who is Life and who is Love. I long for the Person of Jesus made manifest amongst us. If there is anything about you that desires a closer relationship with Him then you get up and go to Him. If there is anything about you that needs a greater revelation, a greater anointing, even a revitalisation of lost strength or hope; then go to Him. Close the door, leave everything outside, and seek the Lord come … wait upon the Lord. Jesus will come in His own good time, but you, you set yourself in invitation of Him; your Lord, your King, your Saviour, and your Friend.

I myself am nothing, but the Lord God is everything. I deeply hunger for the Presence of the Living God. One experience in the Lord will change your life, one encounter with Jesus will shift everything that you have ever believed. And a life of continual experiences and encounters in the Lord will change and rock your world. I don’t care about the ‘hows’ and the ‘wherefores’, all I care about is Jesus manifest. Bless you Holy Ghost!

Pray this prayer with me. ‘Lord, I wish to be rooted and bonded in the Kingdom of God, that Heaven may come and your perfect will be done in and through my life. Lord, I seek your Kingdom come in increasing measure upon my life. I know the Kingdom is within me, but I wish not to lay idle or indifferent. Please draw me close in the things of the Kingdom, please open my eyes to that which you have achieved for me. Please open my eyes to that which is right in front of me and bring them into fruition in and through my life. In Jesus precious Name. Amen’.
