Day #4: Freedom in Christ
“Rest is a Weapon”

For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ “although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. (Hebrews 4:3 NKJV)

Break this Scripture down: “we who have believed do enter that rest.” That is, to ‘believe’ is to come to decidedly choose to ‘enter’ the ‘Rest’ of the Lord. To know Him and to trust Him, to walk life intimately aware of Him with you and in you. Remember “without faith it is impossible to please God” … but … “He rewards those who earnestly seek Him” (Heb. 11:6). As roots are rewarded in their earnest seeking for nutrients so are you in your earnest seeking of the Person of God. Becoming intimately aware and increasingly sensitive of the Father’s Presence upon your life, just as Christ Jesus; you being one born of the same Image and Likeness as He (2 Cor. 3:18).

Within the Rest of God there is such a freedom of soul, that is very powerful, and it changes your life from the inside out (2 Cor. 3:17). All that you do, think and feel, is now charged and inspired by the Spirit rising within you. From within this freedom you are able to liberally draw from the Goodness of the Lord your God, day and night, regardless of what this life presents you.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Cor. 3:17 NIV)

Praying for the Father’s help and involvement with one hand but with the other hand clinging to the cares (Ps. 37, Hos. 7:14) of this life, is an expression of doubt in your Father (Mark 11:23, Matt. 21:21, James 1:5-8 NLT). For those who believe do enter the Rest and Freedom of the Spirit. The Rest and Freedom that comes upon you, as you wait upon the Lord, is deeply life changing. And it comes not contrived by human effort but is gifted of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus holds all the cards unless you declare Him insufficient. Jesus is King unless you with the God given power of free-will choose to rule over your own life instead. We all have the natural tendency, though being a Christian, to continue to bear the fruits of your own flesh. But with the opportunity presented to you, you can choose to enter into the Rest of the Lord and abide in Him instead. This welcomes the Presence of God to ‘manifest’ bearing the Fruits of God abundantly in your life.

The demon will try to bring forms of anxiety in order to make you B-U-S-Y in your soul (Burdened Under Satan’s Yolk). The demon will come in ‘opportune times’ (Luke 4:13) and bring smoke screens of cares and fears. He can stand right next to you trying to impress upon you its own nature and purpose. But regardless of how real it comes, there is such Power in praising the Name of Jesus instead, and enjoying His Presence that comes upon you. The demon by default works to try to separate you from the Love of God, to try to come between you and the Freedom and Rest of the Lord. The answer is simple: 1. submit and truly make Jesus King (daily), 2. in praise lay your cares into His capable hands, and 3. abide in His manifest Presence allowing the Spirit to minister into your life and rise up within you. The Spirit of God Himself will raise a standard against the Enemy and the issues of life that come against you, bringing His Hand to bear more active and increasingly evident (Is. 59:19-21, Ps. 84, Ps. 8:2).

Choose to delight yourself in the Lord rather than dwell in cares. Enter into praise and thanksgiving (Ps. 100:4) and allow His Presence to overflow your ‘cup’ (Ps. 23:5‐6). In doing so you become free to participate with, and regularly draw from, your miracle working Father in ALL circumstances of life and ministry (Is. 54:17). That you may no longer operate out of your flesh, striving to build up with one hand (according to your own vision and understanding) but messing things up with the other. But ‘earnestly seek’ the Presence of God made manifest in your soul and He will outpour in all you say and do; prospering all that you set your hand to (Deut. 30:9, Ps. 1:3).

1-2-3 steps to entering the Presence of God: (Phil. 4:6-7 NKJV)
1. Praise Jesus for His Blood shed, in gratitude: “Be anxious for nothing”…
2. Seek His Presence manifest: “in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” …
3. Experience His Presence: “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

There are things in life that are completely out of your hands, completely out of your capacity to do anything about. Overwhelming issues of life and impossible tasks. Jesus is wishing to teach you, not to be anxious about them. He is raising you instead in the Love, Might, and Glory of God that you might even intercede against them bringing the Kingdom of God to bear (Matt. 6:10). This is part of the Good News of our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus; the Hand of God upon your life and His Hand being moved by the prayers of mere men (2 Cor. 10:4).

Come gain the perspective of Heaven and no longer the perspective of this world (John 3:5-8 AMPC). This world that has God reduced to the size of a thumbnail, and the possibility of intimacy so distant it is not even pursued. Come gain and dwell in the perspective of where you are now seated as a son or daughter of the Living God (Eph. 2:6). Being personally raised in the Courts of God in the truth of the Gospel; that all things are possible, that the Father hears and listens intently to your prayers … and responds!

Choose to root yourself in the Love of God first, then pray.
Choose to root yourself in the Love of God first, then go about life.

Pray this prayer with me. ‘Lord, I do believe but please help me in my unbelief. Lord, I really believe but I do struggle in the how, the when, and the where. But I choose to hand you my life in order to abide in this Rest as you have called me to. I choose to believe in you and remain here, and even through the issues of life that come, I choose to remain. I choose to abide in the Vine and not separate from you in any way, or in any form. I rest in the fact that you are Trustworthy and I give you the keys of my life. In Jesus Name. Amen’.
