Day #18: To be with Him
To be with Him

Opening Scripture

How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God … Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion … Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you. (Psalm 84 NIV)

The Lord has been openly demonstrating to me the treasure and the wonder of praising the Name of Jesus. Regardless of times of great blessing or otherwise great trauma; irrespective of season. “My soul yearns, my flesh cry out for the Living God” for the Lord allows me to dwell in His Courts and even for me to “ever praise Him”; the same praise and delight coming from my mouth even in the midst of great distress. The power and impartation found in a simple hunger to praise Him (Ps. 8:2) and seek His Face (Ps. 105:4) afresh each day. In this He seeds of Himself into my spirit things of such magnitude, wonder, and mystery; deep shifts of the soul. He does this, not I. And the more I hunger, the more my heart cries out for the Living God, the more He comes into my ‘boat’.

I set my heart on ‘pilgrimage’ in praise, love, and delight (Ps. 37:4) in the Lord seeking to be in His Presence. I wait patiently with firm expectation and longing for a fresh visit from Him. I patiently wait on Jesus, in earnest, that I might spend time with Him in person again. And when He is ready His ministering Presence comes upon my life like fresh Manna nourishing my spirit, my soul, my mind, and my flesh; His Presence raising a standard (Is. 59:19 NKJV) against all that comes against. And by the Spirit He has me stand up tall and through His Might (Is. 11:1-3) speak a Word to ‘calm the storm’.

Jesus comes and by His Presence raises you up from “strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion”, God lifts you up into His Glorious Presence and Courts. Praise is like digging for a Spring in a barren land and finding Water, but only then to experience the Lord come and bring Rain as well (Hos. 10:12, Is. 41:17-18, Ps. 84:6). Coming to learn how to ‘wait’ upon the Lord you become more aware just how active God works on behalf of those who ‘earnestly wait’ on Him (Is. 64:1-4, 40:31 NKJV, 1 Cor. 2:9, Heb. 11:6). In setting a watch tower and attentively waiting and looking out for Him (Hab. 2:1-2), “for the Lord God is a sun and shield; and the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold”.

Here king David is showing us how to enter and remain in the Courts of God and the Treasure and Life found in it. And how, in this place, God bestows Favour and Honour upon you, ie; His Presence and Anointing, His Revelation and Strength, His Light and Shield, and the Rain of the outpouring of the Spirit of God. Through His Presence upon your life He lifts you up into His Courts and “withholds no good thing”. In the Courts of God much is given, and now you know how to go to Him for anything that you might desire or need and receive it.

Scripture:

And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him … that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons. (Mark 3:13-15)

The most important effort and intent in life is your ability to ‘be with Jesus’. An encouraging reality that here and now, in our modern time, that you can be with Jesus in person. This not in a belief statement alone, but tangibly in ways that you personally know, taste and feel (Jesus in Person steps into your boat). The question is, how can you be with Jesus now, now that He is not here in the flesh but in spirit? Are there principles in Scripture that give guidance of how to go to Jesus now and to ‘be with Him’ in increasing and in more powerful ways every day?

I would like to encourage you that Christ Jesus is calling you into deeper places in His Heart and in His Purposes than you could ever imagine. To be with Him closer and ever increasingly closer than you may ever have realised possible. To even carry His Glory upon your life, His Anointing and Mantle (from Father to son). As a Christian you may have felt a persistent calling in your spirit for more, to be more actively participating in Christ – this is the ‘calling’ of Jesus, this is His continual tugging in your heart.

Recognise this Scripture of being (1)called’ by Christ Jesus and (2)you have come’. Where Jesus is calling you as a believer to (3)be with Him’ and subsequently then to be sent out to (4)share the Good News’ and (5) given ‘Power to heal’. This is a most powerful capacity that you possess; your ability to be with Him. Walking with the Lord in His purposed way; highly interactive and powerful, very personal and very intimate like the Apostles of old. For it was through their own personal and intimate relationship with their Lord that God shook the whole world.

Your personal ‘intimate’ and ‘closest relationship’ in the Love of God, is the basis of being able to truly make Him ‘known’ in your world (John 1:18 NIV/AMPC). Just as in the life of Jesus and in the lives of the early believers. So the encouragement both first and last, is responding to your underlying calling in Christ – to ‘be with Him’; to ‘abide’ and ‘remain’ (John 15:1-8, 1 John 2:27)

While Jesus was on earth He, in the flesh, had to reach out to the Father who is Spirit (Heb. 5:8). Jesus who was baptised and received the Holy Spirit, as you and I, and yet He sought the Father in ways that the modern ‘Spirit filled’ believer fails to do, or more important to say: that is unaware is possible. Are we missing something? As our Living Example how did Jesus go about seeking His Father who is Spirit? How did He live, what did He do, and what did He teach?

When the people in the Gospel times went to see Jesus in the desert (Matt 14:13-21, Luke 9:10-17) they were there all day (and even for a number of days) waiting and hoping to hear from Him. They were so deeply hungry of soul for Jesus, but this is the way of the Kingdom of God: that our ‘heart’ and ‘flesh cry out’ for Him (Matt. 22:37). Though we don’t necessarily go into the desert but we do however go into private and secret places to seek and wait on the Person of Jesus (Matt. 6:6, Ps. 27:14). Praying unceasingly in yearning for Him as we go about our daily life.

In these Gospel stories people became hungry, so hungry that even Jesus was concerned that they would faint on their return home. There were no TVs there, no novels to occupy their minds, no entertainment systems, no distractions and obviously no food (fasting). They were so hungry of soul; longing, waiting, and hoping to hear and receive something from the Lord. And they were never disappointed! Not only did they hear, see, and receive from the Lord, but our personal Saviour even ministered into their flesh with miracle created food (Mark 6:30-44).

This is a picture painted in the Gospels of how one seeks Jesus now that He is not here in the flesh. Jesus said that it is better that He goes. Why? So He can meet with you and be personally with you anywhere, everywhere, and at any time – regardless of season (Mark 11:12-25). He draws you personally and individually to Himself where He is right now! With the help of our Helper (John 16:7) being with Jesus now where He is in Heaven, deeply with Him, in depths and ways that are truly beyond comprehension or measure (1 Cor. 2:9-10 AMPC). This is how Jesus lived in interaction with His Father who is in Heaven, and it is the Blood of Jesus that has birthed you the same rights. And in our modern times all great moves of God, almost every Revival and outpouring of the Holy Ghost, was instigated and maintained by people who understood this.

God calls us to love Him with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength. And then He has called us to love others as ourselves. If we go to Him in this way then He comes to us in the same way: with all His Heart, with all His Soul, with all His Mind, and all His Strength. The important thing to realise is that we must seek the Lord, yearn and cry out to Him with this same basis, the same attitude, the same intensity, if we truly wish to go out into our world with Him. Not with a diluted Christ Jesus, or in name alone, but full of the Holy Ghost and Power as He – God “withholding nothing from you whose walk is blameless”.

The first and primary calling is to go to Jesus and to be with Him. The way that this is done is to seek and go to Jesus with the same intensity and root drive that we are called to love Him. He is both the Vision and the Rock: the place of your Healing and Rejuvenation, the place of your Strength and your Source, the place of your Anointing and Gifting – it is all in the Lord. If we truly wish to love others as ourselves, let us have something Good to offer, not just flesh to flesh but the Spirit of the Living God unto those within your care. God crucified His Son so that you may be as He, the ‘first Seed of many’ (John 12:24), that we may walk on this earth as Christ Jesus. The same Mantle has been given you: the same Miracle Healing Power, the same Authority, the same Spirit and Word of God, and the same Grace.

It is good to pray and fast for the needs of ministry, for revelation, and for the lost. But it is also good to pray and fast for the Person of God, to be with Him. The people of Israel were afraid, for the face of Moses shone like a lightbulb after being in the Presence of God. It is as you allow your soul to yearn and even faint for the Courts of God, your heart and flesh crying out for the Living God, and you come and spend time again in His Presence; a radiance of the Glory of the Lord will rest upon you. This Glory of the Lord upon your life will touch the world of which you live like the Apostles of old, and they all will come to know the Lord. A New Testament name for this is the Fire of the Holy Spirit.

So as you pray and fast seeking the Person of God (Deut. 8:3, Matt. 9:15, Dan. 10), as you close the door (Matt. 6:6) and go aside into a lonely place (Luke 5:16), or get up early before sunrise to seek Heaven (Mark 1:35), enter the Place of Repose (1 John 3:19, Heb. 4:3, Is. 28:11-13). As you sit at Jesus’ feet (Luke 10:39) and wait upon the Lord (Acts 1:4, Matt 25:13, Luke 12:37, Ps. 27:14, Is. 40:31), in praise and worship of soul (Psalms, Acts 16:25-26), retain the deepest thirst and hunger for the Lord your God (Ps. 107:9, Ps. 63:1, Is. 55:1, John 7:37, Rev. 21:6, Rev. 22:17). Seeking the Face of God (Ps. 27:7-9) and longing to dwell in His Courts (Ps. 84:2). As you abide in the Secret Place of the Almighty (Ps. 91:1) eagerly seeking His Presence manifest, tangible, and active upon your life (John 14:21), I pray that the Glory of God comes upon you, in increasing measure, to the honour of His Son, Christ Jesus. For the truth is that a single person Anointed by the Holy Ghost, is a majority – for God is with him.

Pray this prayer with me. ‘Lord, please help me to be with you, truly with you. Not only with you in name but in heart, in soul, in mind, and in strength. Thank you Lord that according to your Word you desire to manifest, show and reveal yourself personally to me. Lord, I deeply welcome you to do so. Please disciple me in the things of the Kingdom of God and lead me in the right Way even unto the Fire of God, in Jesus Name. Amen’.
